First Lines Friday, Friday 56 and Book Blogger Hop ~ 10 July 2020

First Lines Friday

Today’s FIRST LINES are from A Gathering of Shadows (Shades of Magic #2) by V.E. Schwab. I thoroughly enjoyed the first part, but the second part has taken things to a whole new level!

Delilah Bard had a way of finding trouble.

She’d always thought it was better than letting trouble find her, but floating in the ocean in a two-person skiff with no oars, no view of land, and no real resources save the ropes binding her wrists, she was beginning to reconsider.

My FRIDAY 56 is from page no. 56 of Vanishing Half by Brit Benett.

The Vanishing Half book cover

This was how Desiree thought of herself then: the single dynamic force in Stella’s life, a gust of wind strong enough to rip out her roots. This was the story Desiree needed to tell herself and Stella allowed her to. They both felt safe inside it.

If you can recommend a book from the following genres, what would they be? A book from Romance, NA, YA, Fantasy.(submitted by Tabatha @ Broken Soul Reviews)

Romance – I am a sucker for romances with a lot of angst. Pair it with history, and I am a fan for life.

New Adult – I cannot remember a single book I’ve read of this genre, so I’m probably not the best person to recommend something. 🤣

Young Adult – This is a beautiful book about self-discovery and depression. Even though I do not read many books of this genre, this one touched my heart in ways I cannot explain.

Fantasy – If you have been following me for some time, you would know how often I gush about these two books.

  1. I have a copy of A Gathering of Shadows on my shelf, but I haven’t read it yet. The quote got my interest, and I may eventually give this series another try. Enjoy your current read!
